ADHD is a disorder that makes it difficult to pay attention, stay organized, and/or control impulsive behaviors. Typically, ADHD manifests in early childhood. Hyperactivity, generally, may improve over the years, however problems with impulsiveness, restlessness, and difficulty paying attention can continue into adulthood causing poor work or school performance and low self-esteem.
Common treatment methods may include psychotherapy (cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy), psychoeducation (i.e., coping skills & techniques, self-care), & stimulant (i.e., Adderall, Vyvanse) or nonstimulant medications (i.e., Strattera, Wellbutrin).
*In Arizona, only nonstimulant options will be prescribed.
